We have voyages on our mind

With the promise of Spring so close, we’re rehearsing songs about taking to road and the sea – for discovery and adventures of many kinds.  We hope to share our songs in a performance very soon!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

We’ve had a wonderful choral Christmas season performing in services and concerts – as well as leading folks in carol singalongs (like this one). Thanks to all who have come out to hear us and meet us this year! And if you’re thinking that it’s about time you gave singing a try – come join us in January when we’ll start our new term. We’ll keep you posted on the date of our first rehearsal of 2023. Until then, we wish you a joyful Christmas, a restful break, and a new year full of promise.

Singing Christmas with our neighbours and friends

Christmas is traditionally a busy time for a choir.  And we love it!  This week we’ll be singing at the Old Town Hall on Haverstock Hill in support of our neighbours, WAC Arts.  We’ll join in the festivities of the Christmas market at the Garden Gate Pub at South End for carol singing, and raise funds for Shelter.  And of course, we’ll sing at the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at both St. Saviour’s Church and St. Peter’s Church.

Our Autumn term starts this week!

Join us on Thursday, 15 September at 7pm at St. Peter’s Church on Belsize Square for our first rehearsal of the term. As usual, we’ll rehearse weekly on Thursdays, from 7-9pm – with a break at half-time to meet new choir members and catch up with old friends. Less usually, we have exciting plans for an opportunity to take part in a community opera in November at the Southbank Centre. Come along to find out more! There is no audition and newcomers are very welcome.

Join us to celebrate the summer!

To mark the end of a great term, we’re having an informal get-together this Thursday.  Friends, neighbours, past (and future!) members are warmly invited to join us at St. Peter’s Church, Belsize Square on 14 July at 7:30 pm for some singing and a chance to meet and catch up on the news!

Ready to sing in the Spring

Our new term begins this week! Join us for our first rehearsal on Thursday, 5 May at 7 p.m. Newcomers are welcome to come along to see if Belsize Community Choir is your new choir. And for returning members, the pieces we’ll be working on together are available in the Members’ Area.

A new year, a new term, and a warm welcome to our new musical director

We were delighted to be able to end 2021 singing!  In December, we performed to raise money for Maggie’s, sang carols in the neighbourhood, and took part in St. Peter’s carol service.  We also said a sad farewell to our friend and amazing music director of the past five years, Sheena Phillips.  A huge thanks (sung in perfect harmony, of course) to Sheena and warm wishes for her new adventures in the US.

This week we’ll start the new year and the new term by welcoming Ezra Burke, who will lead us in new choral endeavours!  If you’re interested in joining us, come along on Thursday, 20 January at 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church on Belsize Square.  All are welcome – there are no auditions.  We continue to sing with masks and luckily there is ample space at St. Peter’s for social distancing!
